the rest is done look at the mess
did you expect it to end like this?
sirens blare the law draws near
warm blood soaks into
your drab green shirt
and in the dirt

accept the fate that you deserve
Dear Heisenberg

all your sins have been laid bare
and your enemies too dead to care
student, running for his life
hated by your kids and by your wife
their future's rife

accept the fate that you deserve
Dear Heisenberg

crystals made of purest blue
only you can make that perfect hew
they don't come without a price
this bullet wound is just
one way to pay
now down you lay

accept the fate that you deserve
Dear Heisenberg

drug kingpin or loving dad?
maybe before you chose to break bad
all that's left is just the name
of a monster, lacking shame
say your name

accept the fate that you deserve
Dear Heisenberg

the job is done it's time to leave
as your heartbeats slow you cease to breathe
all your time has been used up
your smile says you're free
of all regret
you don't lament

accept the fate that you deserve
Dear Heisenberg
For a recent project I was given the opportunity to do an ekphrastic poem, a poem inspired by a work of art essentially. I chose to do a poem based on Breaking Bad, because I'm a serious nut for the show. I took the rhyme scheme and format from Badfinger's "Baby Blue" from the final episode. I probably should put up a SPOILER warning but if you haven't seen the show then why are you reading a poem about it?
